What is assessed?

Typical items include seating and seatbelt anchorages, changes to the body or structure, vehicle mass and axle loads, gas and electrical installations, and the required conversion features. Separate modification codes or supporting evidence may be needed when other work is completed at the same time.

Light and heavy vehicles follow different guidance

For a light conversion in Victoria, Transport Victoria points to VSB 14 code LH11 and VSI 5. For a vehicle above 4.5 tonnes GVM, it points to NHVR Vehicle Standards Guide 5 together with relevant Victorian requirements. Do not assume that a certificate or checklist for one vehicle class covers the other.

What should you send before inspection?

Send CVC the make, model, VIN, GVM, current registration details, a description of every modification, layout or drawings, photos of work before it is covered, and available gas and electrical compliance documents. The completed vehicle still needs to be inspected and the evidence reviewed before CVC can determine the approval outcome.
